All I can say is... I'm pretty sure Widd was just messing with us, she didn't mean to be insulting.
I'll help out with anything too. I'm up to helping. If we can get this place up and running again, and all it takes is a little help from us to get it started, then hell yeah, I'm in.
I suppose... having indefinate places are good. I like having basically... a landmass though, a definate landmass that I'm on. Though, what's on (or in) that landmass is up to the players to decide. Thereby allowing the original poster of the RP thread to set up the area they want their story to be in. What's even better (I think) is if you have a jumble of Islands, so you can have sea-based RP while trying to go from one island to another, maybe?
It's something like they have set up at RPGV except less specific on the areas. (That's the new storyline stuff btw.) I mean... you could even have islands that are under a specific influence, like one is an empire of humans or what have you, and another may be a dangerous island littered with the undead, and dangerous caverns to explore deep inside the island itself. That would make things slightly interesting, so that the player doesn't have to try to think of everything, and so that they have an influence on how they're going to play, or where they're going to go, without having to make it all up while being uncertain about it. I mean... those islands could also serve as the areas for the different alignments, but they're not limited to staying on that single island, they can go to any island they want, but the way they play should change, say if a good character goes to an evil island, he'd probably be very cautious, and jumpy (depending on the character), and an evil character would probably be more stealthy on a good island. Without having DEFINATE things on the islands, and basically considering them "endless" in the sense of, you can keep just thinking of places you'd like to RP that fits that island or area, and it'll never actually define the places on the island, nor take up any part of the island itself. You're just using the island as a basis to go off how you RP, and what the location of your RP is going to be like. (Now, I know that a good island would probably have pockets of evil influence, or hidden neutral peoples, and that's normal because that's how it always is. A kind of shadowy operation going on under the eye of the "good" empire, or whatever it may be.) Along with that thought... you could make ONE definate area on the island, being it's focal point, and probably most dangerous (depending on your alignment) area to go to. Say... the main city of the Empire on the good island, or an old tower surrounded by the walking dead, guarded by liches, and at the top is a Necromancer of immense power, or something. Though, I'm not fond of the tower idea so much... I'd probably go more with a loose kind of... organization, residing in a very foreboding, and almost impenetrable area. (That way, if one alignment should attack the area, those from the opposing alignment that is being attacked, can defend. You can always NPC guards too.) You might even be able to start wars that way... I'm not sure how successful wars are in RP, but they sound like they could potentially be very fun. (Just throwing out some ideas)
RPGV has also set down a system much like DnD, but simplified so someone who has never played DnD would understand it much more easily. We can talk the whole DnD thing over later, but if we make it a seperate thing entirely, that will probably please more people who would rather use the normal RP setup.
Dunno if any of that helps, hope it does.
